There’s something very exciting about the start of a new year, particularly when it’s also the start of a new decade. It’s natural to take time to reflect over the past years, identify both the highs and the lows and to reminisce. Ten years ago, Bright Red was still very much in its infancy and just starting to bring innovative, fresh Study Guides into the marketplace that students, parents and teachers could depend and rely on. It’s wonderful to see how much the company has grown in that time – we’ve published more than 65 Study Guides from National 4 to Advanced Higher level and more recently, have expanded into publishing Course Books for Broad General Education.
It’s hard to believe just how quickly 2019 is whizzing by. While schools have been on holiday, the Bright Red office has been buzzing with activity as we prepare for the new term. In schools across the country, the last eighteen months have brought a whirlwind of course and exam changes at the senior phase. Here at Bright Red we have been busy updating many of our National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher books to meet the SQA changes too.
Although we are a wee company, we try and support those who are just starting out in their publishing career whenever we can and offer work experience to students. For the past ten weeks, we’ve had the pleasure of having Emma in our busy but friendly office. She has been helping with both marketing and editorial tasks and has been getting a flavour of what it is like to work in the book industry.
